Phoenix Senior Living is excited to present an innovative and unique program to our Memory Care Residents! We are introducing The Grand Baby Project, which specializes in Dementia Doll Therapy and Training.
In an ongoing effort to provide purpose, engagement, and wellbeing for our residents we are launching this non-pharmacological approach which has proven to reduce agitation, stress, anxiety, and isolation among those living with Dementia. Considering the potential benefits associated with doll therapy, its use in clinical practice has been growing globally.
The Grand Baby Project offers the only Dementia Doll Therapy Training and Programming in the USA for Caregivers and our Community Staff. You can feel confident that our staff has already been fully trained to engage residents in these new enrichment activities.
Project Founder, Tonja Moon states, “The foundation of our training is based on scientific research and my personal experiences in caring for my grandmother who suffered severe agitation, anxiety and depression throughout her Dementia journey. Dementia is about creating meaningful moments with your loved one, that’s why the details of this initiative are so important. From our actual Grand Baby dolls to the individually selected clothing they wear, creating connection is the ultimate goal.”
It’s important to note that residents are never forced to engage with a Grand Baby. Residents are simply offered the choice to engage in the activity. If they choose not to participate, that’s OK, alternative engagement activities will always be offered.
